But when one looks closely at the important sections of the legislation, it is clear that this costly and sweeping mental health legislation not only fails the mothers of America, its intended to inflate the balance sheets of Big Pharma. * The bill omits language clearly stating there will be an evaluation of the large amount of data available on the known risks of antidepressant and antipsychotic medications currently being prescribed to pregnant women and nursing mothers (including birth defects, heart defects, spontaneous abortions, and infant deaths). See May 9, 2009 Vogue article, Pregnant Pause: With a flurry of recent reports challenging the safety of antidepressant drugs for unborn babies, doctors and concerned mothers-to-be are rethinking the guidelines by Alexis Jetter at www.box.net * The bill defines postpartum condition as only postpartum depression (PPD) or postpartum psychosis. The danger is that per these DSM-extracted terms to label women with mental disorders, this is only psychological, not physiological conditions which will be checked for, ruling out discovery of any real physical

It;s so sad, we really need to put a stop to Pshychiarty and their controlling abuse.

That’s so sad that this could have been prevented if the doctors were more knowledgeable. So sorry for the loss of your beautiful baby boy.

OMG i take effexor and I miscarried?! I wonder if there was a connection!?

I took zoloft while pregnant with my first. He was born shaking uncontrolibly and after 3 days in the NICU, the doctor decided it was due to an immature nervous system-due to the zoloft.

Today he’s 9 and has had epilepsy since he was 2 months old, has never slept properly, has ADHD, and bipolar disorder. His EEG’s are routinely abnormal.

I have no doubt that zoloft caused at least some of his issues-and the doctors confirm that.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. My 1q2 year old daughter, Kayla, died from side effects due to Risperdal and Zoloft. We have got the end this senseless killing of babies and children. All in the name of money!

schultzcrowd 17/01/2010 at 4:24 AM

We really want to. But I live in Canada. In the only province that you can’t sue for malpractice if the person who died has no dependents. It sucks. Not only did they kill my son, I have no way to fight and make his death more than another statistic here or make the doctors and nurses responisble for their actions or inactions. His death needs to matter. Other than PPHN and withdrawal caused by the drugs, autopsy shows us there was nothing wrong with him; he shouldn’t have died.

I’m on prozac now and never plan on giving birth (adoption ftw) but was this from withdrawals from the medication?

@blondeliz06 I would not doubt it at all.

amyphilo 08/04/2010 at 10:50 PM

@twistt It was caused by PPHN caused by Effexor exposure, not withdrawal, he never even got a chance to nurse.

I know what poison that stuff is from experience, but I can’t even begin to imagine the bitterness and loss from something like this.
